Yearbooks

YEARBOOKS!!!

Preordered Yearbooks will be distributed on Monday, June 5th .  If you did not order a yearbook and would like to purchase one for your student, a limited number of yearbooks will be available for sale on a first-come, first-serve basis starting Tuesday, June 6th, beginning at 8:30 am in the school lobby. Parents must come in to purchase a yearbook as students wil not be permitted to leave the classroom to do so. The cost of a yearbook is $20. Please have the exact change in cash or bring a check payable to Pinebrook Elementary for the exact amount. Please note that once these limited number of yearbooks are sold, we will not be receiving another shipment.

Field Day

2nd Grade Field Day is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 31st!  Please help your child dress appropriately for the weather.  Students need to wear sneakers or water shoes, please no flip-flops. Students should bring a towel, a change of clothes, and a change of shoes.  You may bring hats and/or sunglasses, but students are responsible for their own belongings.  If you would like your child to wear sunscreen, please apply it in the morning before school.  Thanks!

Second Grade will be having Sports Day the morning of Wednesday, June 7th.  Currently we don't have any parents who have volunteered for this activity.  This is a fun activity and I would love our class to be able to participate, but we need volunteers. Our class will be rotating to 4 other classes in second grade.  In each class there will be some sort of sport or activity for the class to participate in.  Teachers rotate with the class.  I need 2 parents to come in to do the sport/activity for our classroom.  If you are interested, please email me at courtney.allen@lcps.org

Sports Day
The second grade team will be participating in Sports Day on June 7th. These activities will take place in school and the students will get an opportunity to travel to different classrooms to play games. Please send your child in sneakers that day.

As this year comes close to an end I would like to thank all of you for your continued support throughout the year. Although there are only a few weeks of school left, please know there is still a lot of learning to do! Together, let’s keep your child on track so that this year can end without a hitch!!

2nd Grade Economics Project

Products are due:  Friday, May 19th

A letter was sent home today in your son/daughter's red folder about the 2nd Grade Economics Fair. Students need to make 6 items which will be sold with fake money to students at Buffalo Trail Elementary School.  The students at Buffalo Trail will be making items for students at Pinebrook to purchase with fake money.  Items sold can be $1, $2, or $3.  Each student will get to spend $5.  This will all be done with fake money.  I discussed and showed students pictures of items that were sold in previous years at the Economic Fair.  If you look on google images and type 2nd grade economics fair ideas, a bunch of different ideas will pop up.  Students are encouraged to be creative and to make something that they think other students their age might be interested in purchasing.

FIELD TRIP REMINDER

Tomorrow, May 2nd is our 2nd Grade Field trip to Mount Vernon.  Busses will be leaving school at 8am and we will be returning before the end of the day.  Please remember to pack a bagged lunch and wear comfortable walking shoes.  It's supposed to be a beautiful day!!
