Reflex Math

Dear Parents,

We will be starting Reflex Math for homework the week of September 5th. Like I mentioned at Back to School Night, the requirement will be to complete 60 minutes of Reflex Math a week. I will be checking each Friday to make sure it has been completed. The first Friday I will check for the completed 60 mins. will be Friday, Sept. 8th. Being able to recall basic addition and subtraction facts is an important part of 2nd grade. Students are expected to complete 50 problems in 4 minutes by the end of 2nd grade and Reflex Math is a great tool to help them meet that standard. Each student has their own log in which is taped to the inside cover of their agendas. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I passed out log in information and passwords for Raz Kids and Reflex math today.  All this information is stapled on the first page of your son/daughter's agenda.  Please feel free to log in and try out the programs.  I will NOT be checking time spent on Reflex Math until Friday, September 4th.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

First Day of SECOND grade!

We had a great first day of second grade!  It was so nice to meet all the students and hear all the stories about summer break.  Today we went through supplies, got to know each other, and learned the classroom rules and routines.  The day flew by!  I'm looking forward to working with and getting to know all the students in the class!

We are in need of colored printer paper.  I usually have between 4 and 5 word study groups based on ability.  I try to copy each groups word study words in a different color to avoid confusion for the students.  We still need GREEN copy paper, BLUE copy paper, and PINK copy paper.  Thanks in advance!

Room Parent

Our class is in need of a room parent to organize and plan classroom parties.  We usually have 3 parties a year.  A Fall Harvest Party around October 31st, a Valentine's Day Party around February 14th, and an End of the Year Party at the end of the year.  If you are available, please let me know as soon as possible.  We will be unable to have these fun events without a room parent to organize, plan, and collect money and/or food and drink items.

I'm excited to start a new school year!  It's going to be a great one!
