A Call for Career Day Volunteers!
Do you remember how it felt when you started your job? The
excitement, anticipation, because maybe you've never done it before? That's how
we feel now!
If you are passionate about your occupation and would like to
share with and inspire our students, we are looking for parent and community
volunteers to speak/present at our upcoming Career Day (4/2/20)! You can share
what your typical workday involves, where you went to school, and why you chose
your occupation.
Please return the linked google form by Mar. 2. Thank you for
your support in helping our Pumas reach for the stars! https://forms.gle/cUR5bsyjEZGRbFcZ6
Timed Drills
Now that we are halfway through 2nd grade, our timed drills will change. Instead of giving 5 minutes to complete 50 problems, students will now have 4 minutes. It will stay this way for the remainder of the year. You may see some regression in their scores since we are taking a minute away, however we hope to see them improve quickly!

During the month of February, second grade students in Loudoun County Public Schools will take the online Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), Form 7, Level 8. The CogAT measures general and specific cognitive skills that allow a student to learn new tasks or solve problems in the absence of direct instruction.
Students’ verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning abilities are measured by three test batteries, each of which is comprised of three subtests. Students typically complete three subtests per day, for three consecutive school days, to complete all nine subtests. These tests are untimed; however, each day’s testing period usually does not exceed 90 minutes. Students work through each subtest at his or her own pace, and the entire test is read aloud to students by means of pre-recorded audio.
Students cannot prepare or study for the CogAT. Instead, they will have the opportunity to become familiar with test items through teacher-directed practice activities. Additionally, practice questions, administered before the first subtest, will familiarize students with the online testing environment.
Score reports will be sent home to parents/guardians together with the 3rd Quarter report card.

Our class disinfects desks and around the classroom every Friday. This has really helped with preventing the spread of germs. We are on our last container of disinfecting wipes. If anybody would be willing to donate a container or two of disinfecting wipes that would be greatly appreciated!
Dreambox
Students need to complete 60 minutes of Dreambox to earn Fun Friday. If you are having difficulty accessing Dreambox through LCPSGO, you can click the link below. The login and password is your child’s student number and the Class Code is 44359.
