Yay! We made it through the first week of virtual 2nd grade! I am so impressed with how all the students did! Yes, there were some hiccups and technology issues, but overall I think it went really well! Way to go everyone! I truly appreciate all the help from parents that helped make this week run smoothly!
Next week is a B Week
P.E., Music, Art Asynchronous (on your own), and Library is Synchronous LIVE
GUIDANCE - The first day of school we didn't have specials, so we will be doing a Guidance makeup on WEDNESDAY, September 16th at 12:45. This lesson will be synchronous (LIVE). I will remind students of this change on Wednesday.
Monday Schedule
Just as a reminder, on Monday's students will only meet for synchronous (live) instruction from 8:15-8:45. We will have a morning meeting and a read aloud. After the read aloud, students will be directed to Search for an Asynchronous (on your own) Search lesson. The rest of the day will be asynchronous activities. Students will need to go to the Monday button on Schoology and complete the playlist for the day.
Assessments
Starting next week, I will be starting to assess students individually. Parents, please be on the look out for communication regarding a time and day for your child to log into our Google Meet to be assessed. If you do not receive any information, that means your child is not scheduled yet.
Playlists Next Week
Please make sure to read the afternoon playlists carefully with your child. There will be more specific activities that go along with what we are teaching in the different subject areas. We are working on the finishing touches in order to get Seesaw codes and passwords out to you. We are hopeful that information will be sent to us sometime next week. In the mean time, students will be working in their math workbooks during independent time! You do not need to turn these in. I will go over some of the problems the next day during our live session. When we get Seesaw we will be sure to let you know!
Focus Areas for the Coming Week
Reading: Making Predictions before reading and Introducing Reader's Workshop
Social Studies: Citizenship- learning traits of a good citizen
Math: Number Sense (ordinal numbers and different types of patterns)
